Combating Cyber Crimes

An awareness event titled "Renting Out Your Account, Losing Your Future," coordinated by the Bor Public Prosecutor's Office and Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, was held in collaboration with our school.

The program, organized to raise awareness among young people about the increasing crimes of renting out bank accounts, fraud, and money laundering, comprehensively addressed students' legal responsibilities and potential penalties.

Bor Public Prosecutor Şükrü Samet Bozkurt, Public Prosecutor Gizem Korkmaz Başbuğ, and Public Prosecutor Muammer Aydın participated in the event and provided direct information to the students. Their speeches emphasized that allowing third parties to use bank accounts constitutes a serious crime under the Turkish Penal Code, and that such actions may be considered complicity in fraud and money laundering.

Bor Public Prosecutor Şükrü Samet Bozkurt stated that young people are particularly targeted by criminal organizations with promises of "easy gains," and that renting out bank accounts can have severe criminal and legal consequences, not just financial ones. Prosecutor Gizem Korkmaz Başbuğ drew attention to methods of manipulation and deception carried out through digital platforms, stating that students should act consciously against such offers. Prosecutor Muammer Aydın explained the legal aspects of money laundering and the framework of individual responsibility through case studies.

The program was also attended by the Director of Bor Halil Zöhre Ataman Vocational School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Yavuzer, and the Dean of Bor Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Fatih Yücel. Academic administrators emphasized the importance of students becoming well-rounded individuals not only academically but also legally and socially.

The event continued with a question-and-answer session, giving students the opportunity to directly ask questions to judicial officials. The program made a significant contribution to increasing young people's awareness of crime and criminal elements.
