Course Objective
The aim of this course is to be able to design, develop and program the most efficient database for real life applications. To be able to use SQL language effectively.
Brief Content of the Course
An overview of database systems. Entity relationship diagrams and database design. The relational model. Integrative constraints on relationships. Defining and updating relationships (tables) with SQL DDL. Schema optimization and regular forms. Writing efficient queries using relational algebra and relational algebra operators. Defining queries, constraints and triggers with SQL. Views. Database application development. Algorithms for relational algebra operators. Evaluation of relational algebra operators. A typical relational query optimizer. Transaction management. Concurrency control. Database crash optimization.
