Course Objective
The aim of this course is to develop writing skills in Turkish by equipping students with a knowledge of written text types, understanding the relationships between these types, and developing texts that align with the specific characteristics of the genre. This course aims to enable students to apply the internal and external structural elements of written expression accurately and competently, and to write texts that adhere to the rules of the language and are free of grammatical errors. Furthermore, students are expected to develop the skills to produce texts by familiarizing themselves with different genres of written expression, to identify grammatical errors, and to learn how to correct them.
Brief Content of the Course
Written language and its features; spelling and punctuation; features of written and oral expression; paragraph formation and paragraph types (introduction, development, conclusion paragraphs); ways of developing thought (explanation, discussion, narration, description; definition, exemplification, witnessing, comparison, etc. applications); text structure (structural features of the text, introduction-development-conclusion sections); textuality features (cohesion, consistency; purposefulness, acceptability, situationality, informativeness, intertextuality); text writing (drafting, writing, editing and sharing); writing informative-descriptive texts; writing narrative texts; writing descriptive texts; writing argumentative and persuasive texts.
