Course Objective
This course aims to equip students with the fundamental concepts and methods of analytical chemistry, develop their scientific thinking, data interpretation and reporting skills, and thus provide them with the competencies to contribute to problem solving, quality control, research and development, and sustainable development in their professional lives.
Brief Content of the Course
Basic concepts in analytical chemistry, the importance of analytical chemistry in science, basic analytical processes, types of analysis, significant figures, statistical interpretation of data, reporting the analytical results, basic statistical tests, the chemistry of aqueous solutions, concentration units, preparation of aqueous solutions, chemical equilibrium, acid-base, salt and amphiprotic species, pH calculations, buffer solutions, the effect of electrolytes on equilibrium and activity and activity coefficients, The Le Chatelier's Principle, the solubility products, complex equilibrium calculations, the contribution of analytical chemistry to a sustainable quality of life and national development.
