Course Objective
The aim of the Chemical Kinetics course is to provide the student with the ability to explain the basic concepts of chemical kinetics, to interpret the rates and mechanisms of chemical reactions, to understand the factors affecting the rate of reactions and also how to determine the rate equations of reactions experimentally and theoretically, to examine kinetic data and to apply this information to various chemical processes and to analyze the data.
Brief Content of the Course
Definition of concepts related to chemical kinetics, factors affecting reaction rate, reaction rate and rate expressions, rate constants and temperature changes, determination of experimental rate laws, kinetics of simple and complex reaction mechanisms, molecules, intermediates and transition states, reaction orders and molecularity, catalysis and catalytic mechanisms, kinetics in solution and heterogeneous environments, kinetic applications in industrial and biological processes.
