Course Objective
The aim of this course is to introduce students to traditional Turkish handicrafts, one of the cornerstones of Turkish culture, and to help them understand their historical development and aesthetic values. Students will study arts such as carpet weaving, marbling (ebru), ceramics, wood carving, miniature painting, and weaving, both theoretically and visually. The integration of these crafts with modern design will also be discussed. The course emphasizes the preservation of cultural heritage and the importance of sustainable cultural production.

This course explores the historical evolution of Turkish handicrafts from their origins to the present day. It provides information about various types of crafts and production techniques. Students analyze the cultural, aesthetic, and economic value of traditional art products. Approaches to sustaining these crafts in today’s world are also discussed.
