Course Objective
To give theoretical information about design and applications of industrial automation performed with components of industrial automation, Logic ICs (Chips), power semiconductor switches, programmable logic elements-logic arrays-array logics.
Brief Content of the Course
Definition, scope, and application areas of IEs. Technology pyramid and tree for automated production systems. Types of switches, relays including on and off delay timers, contactors, and sensors. Relay Ladder logic diagram. Examples of industrial automation performed with contactors, sensors, and timers. Examples of industrial automation implemented with Logic ICs (Chips), power semiconductor switches, and 555-timer. Simplification by using the tabulation method. Examples of industrial control applications including EPROM, PAL etc. Strategies for the sustainability of the useage of the knowledge acquired after this course.
