Course Objective
Teaching the establishment of a balance between urbanization and the environment. Ensuring the development of environmentally compatible projects. Teaching the measures that can be taken as a result of a possible environmental impact.
Brief Content of the Course
The EIA approach and its global applications in solving environmental problems. EIA and screening criteria. Treaties to which Turkey is a party for the protection of species and prevention of pollution, and voluntary organizations working in this field. Stages and process of EIA. EIA Methods. Faunistic and Floristic analysis in EIA reports. The role of biologists in the EIA process. Criteria to be considered in the EIA process. Habitat directives. IUCN categories. BERN categories. Endemic, rare, and endangered fauna and flora species and their importance in the EIA process. Preparing and presenting a sample EIA report.
