Course Objective
The aim is to learn the causes of harmful emissions originating from vehicles, to implement applications that reduce these emissions and to learn the standards determined for emissions.
Brief Content of the Course
The emission control systems course is taught as a theoretical and practical course by using visual materials in the classroom environment to create studies on the exhaust gases that are largely the result of the combustion of internal combustion engines and the effects of the exhaust gases caused by these on the environment. Pollutant emissions originating from vehicles, their effects on human health and the atmosphere, sustainable environment; ecology, global environmental problems. The structural features of gasoline and diesel engines (compression ratio, combustion chamber shape, intake manifold shape, valve timing, etc.) and the effects of adjustment values (air/fuel ratio, spark plug electrode gap, platinum gap, ignition advance, injection advance, amount of fuel injected in one stroke, etc.) on emissions. Emission reduction systems used in the fuel tank during the period from the intake of the engine atmosphere to the expulsion of fuel in the exhaust system. Standards and applications of test and measurement methods in gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Prerequisites
Students need to know the operating principles of diesel and gasoline engines.
