Course Objective
To be knowledgeable about Turkish folk dances and regional variations.
Brief Content of the Course
Along with the basic definition of folklore, rhythm and perception studies, game theory, folk dances, and figure applications are taught. Within the scope of the program, regional differences in folk dances are addressed, and figure studies specific to different regions are conducted. The characteristic figures of regional types such as bar, halay, kaşık, horon, karşılama, and zeybek are taught. In addition, practical studies are conducted on the posture, rhythm, and playing styles of the learned games. The adaptation of folk games to the stage, staging styles, and the differences between these styles are also covered in the course.
