Course Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with a sociological understanding of social structure, culture, social change, and media relations. The course aims to evaluate the processes of production, content, and consumption in media such as radio and cinema within a social context. Students will learn to relate fundamental concepts and theoretical approaches in sociology to topics such as media and the culture industry, representations of gender, class, and identity, media and ideology, and popular culture analysis. Furthermore, the course will develop the ability to critically evaluate the impact of radio and cinema content on society. The course provides a foundation for understanding social problems within the context of media production and consumption, analyzing media representations of different social groups, and discussing the social impacts of cultural production.
