Course Objective
This course aims to introduce the physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters that determine the quality of water resources, teach methods used in monitoring and assessing water quality, and provide the knowledge and skills to assess microbiological risks in drinking, utility, and swimming water. Students will understand microbial diversity in aquatic ecosystems, the role of pathogens, and the relationship between water hygiene and public health, thereby developing an awareness of water quality management and microbiological safety.
Brief Content of the Course
The definition and importance of water quality; physical, chemical, and microbiological quality criteria; water sampling and analysis methods; microbiological indicators (coliforms, E. coli, enterococci, etc.); quality standards for drinking and utility water; waterborne pathogens and their transmission routes; disinfection and treatment methods; the relationship between water pollution and public health; and current legal regulations and standards.
