Course Objective
The aim of this course is to examine child rights and child law at both national and international levels; to teach legal regulations related to the protection, care, education, and adjudication of children; and to enable students to comprehend the principle of the best interests of the child and to evaluate the legal dimension of social work practices with children.
Brief Content of the Course
The course covers the concept of child law, the historical development of child rights, national legislation, and international conventions. It examines children’s rights to protection, education, health, family relations, custody, child labor, abuse and neglect, the juvenile justice system, and legal regulations regarding children in conflict with the law. The child protection system and institutions in Turkey, as well as international practices, are also discussed.
