Course Objective
The aim of this course is to examine the psychosocial characteristics of youth, as well as the risks and needs they face, from a social work perspective; to equip students with the skills to work with young people on an individual, family, and group level; and to evaluate social policies and services that support youth welfare.
Brief Content of the Course
The course covers the psychosocial characteristics of youth, risk and protective factors, the historical development of working with youth, and key principles. It addresses the needs, problems, and services provided to young people in Turkey; explores family and group work, stages of change, substance use, chronic illnesses, juvenile delinquency, and self-harming behaviors. The course concludes with the role of social work in the development of youth policies.
