Course Objective

Brief Content of the Course

The place of the textbook in teaching as one of the most important tools of a course. Introduction to the external conditions (laws,
regulations; types of schools, market conditions, etc.) and internal conditions (methods to be used, characteristics of the subject area, physical structure conditions, etc.) that shape the textbook, and implementation of practices in this regard. Utilizing global expertise in the field of textbook analysis. The function of elements that are important in a textbook, such as language, exercise formats and richness that test and reinforce thematic integrity, text selection and diversity in Turkish lessons, page layout, and the use of graphic elements, and demonstrating these in practice on textbooks created according to different approaches (old-new). Conducting the necessary work for each teacher candidate to be able to comprehensively understand a textbook related to their field and write an evaluation report. Using textbooks with different approaches prepared for different teaching programs implemented from the early years of the Republic to the present day as practical examples for this work.

Analyzing the suitability of texts, activities, and images in Turkish textbooks for children.

The ability to analyze textbooks in terms of writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills.

Evaluating Turkish textbooks in terms of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
