Course Objective
One of the objectives of the course is to equip students with knowledge about the conditions under which Modern Turkish Literature emerged and the genres that appeared for the first time in Turkish literature. By providing information about the Tanzimat Period, the Servet-i Fünun Period, the Fecri Atî Period, and the National Literature Period, taking into account the classifications made in literary history, the course aims to teach the characteristics of each period through the prominent works of each period in the genres of novel, poetry, and theater.
Brief Content of the Course
The development of modern Turkish literature, generally considered to have begun with Şinasi's translations of French poetry in 1859, is examined by studying the prominent works of each period. The stages of Turkish literature from the Tanzimat to the National Literature Period are examined by tracing the emergence of Western genres and the traces of the transformation experienced by existing genres.
