Course Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand effective decision-making processes in problems encountered at both individual and organisational levels. Students will learn quantitative and qualitative decision-making methods, multi-criteria decision analysis approaches, and decision-making techniques under uncertainty. Furthermore, the role of data analytics and optimisation in the decision-making process will be emphasised. The course aims to develop effective, ethical, and long-term decision-making skills in sustainable development and resource utilisation.
Brief Content of the Course
This course covers the theoretical foundations and analytical as well as intuitive techniques of decision-making. Topics include decision trees, multi-criteria decision-making methods (AHP, TOPSIS, ELECTRE, etc.), utility theory, decision-making under uncertainty, and group decision processes. Real-world case studies are used to develop practical decision models. The course also emphasizes sustainability-oriented decision strategies.
