With the establishment of Niğde University with the Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992 and numbered 3837, Niğde University Faculty of Education was renamed Niğde University Faculty of Education and started education as a single department named Classroom Teaching. Article 22 of the Law No. 2809 published in the Official Gazette dated July 11, 1992 and numbered 21281. The name of our University, which was established as "Niğde University" with the title and paragraph 1 of the additional article 22 of the Law No. 2809 published in the Official Gazette dated July 11, 1992 and numbered 21281; To carry the heroism and name of Martyr Petty Officer Senior Master Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, who sacrificed his life without hesitation to prevent the treacherous attempt against the survival of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Nation, to future generations, The name of our university, which was changed to "Ömer Halisdemir University" in accordance with Article 20 of the Law No. 6745 on Supporting Investments on Project Basis and Amendments to Certain Laws and Decree Laws published in the Official Gazette dated September 7, 2016 and numbered 29824 in order to make a note in history, was changed to "Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University" with the amendment made by Article 24 of the "Law on Amendments to Certain Laws and Decree Laws in order to Develop Industry and Support Production", which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated July 01, 2017 and numbered 30111. The name was changed to "Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University" with the amendment made by Article 24 of the "Law on Amendments to Certain Laws and Decree Laws in order to Develop Industry and Support Production" published in the Official Gazette dated July 01, 2017 and numbered 30111.
 

Founded in 1995 and started education with its first students, the Department of Music Education continues its activities by taking 30 students every year with the talent exam. Currently, 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 5 Dr. Lecturers, 2 Lecturers and 1 Research Assistant are working in our department. Students of our department can receive education in various countries with the Erasmus project every year. Our undergraduate program consists of compulsory courses and those who successfully complete their undergraduate education receive the title of music teacher.
