To gather the opinions, thoughts, suggestions, and expectations of our students, who are among the most important stakeholders of our faculty, a Dean-Student meeting was held on December 3, 2024, at 15:30 in Amphi-I.


The Dean, Prof. Dr. Murat BARUT, introduced himself and thanked the students for their participation. He stated that such meetings are held regularly every year.
He informed the students about the “Open-Door” meetings with the Dean every Wednesday from 08:30-09:15 and 15:45-16:30, during which students can meet without appointments to share their views, thoughts, suggestions, and expectations.
He announced that faculty members have posted schedules on their office doors to allocate specific hours for meetings with students outside of class.
He emphasized that the Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering Departments of the faculty are accredited by MÜDEK, granting international recognition for their diplomas. He added that other eligible departments would also initiate efforts for accreditation.
The Dean expressed the desire to develop and observe a culture of quality among students.
He mentioned that contact with alumni is maintained, and feedback is collected regarding their working environments and educational needs.
Students were encouraged to apply for TÜBİTAK 2209A (Research Projects for University Students) and TÜBİTAK 2209B (Industry-Oriented Research Projects for University Students).
He recommended that students join and actively participate in professional clubs, as these activities would strengthen their résumés upon graduation.
He advised students to follow the faculty website for announcements and activities related to the faculty.
Prof. Dr. Murat BARUT invited students to share their requests, suggestions, and expectations. The student feedback was summarized as follows:

REQUESTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. They expressed difficulties in finding internship opportunities.
2. They requested the faculty to remain open until 20:00 for evening classes and group work, as it currently closes after working hours.
3. They noted that the on-campus stationery and photocopy shop is often closed and requested it to operate during working hours.
4. They proposed organizing talks with experienced and active engineers from leading professional organizations.
5. An English preparatory student requested announcements about faculty events to be shared with optional preparatory class students as well.
6. They suggested organizing a career event for engineering students.
7. They recommended utilizing empty spaces within the faculty for studying and group work.
8. They requested the installation of vending machines for food and beverages within the faculty premises.
9. They inquired about which departments could potentially gain accreditation.
10. They requested the maintenance and repair of the stairways connecting the faculty to the bus stops near the Monument Area.
After addressing the students’ suggestions and requests, Prof. Dr. Murat BARUT thanked the participants and concluded the meeting.
