The ranking of 193 universities in Turkey showing their academic publishing performance over the period of ten years 204-2014, in the specific academic fields indexed by Thomson and Reuters, has recently been released by Turkish Scientific and Reseach Council (TUBITAK). According to the research results, Nigde University has entered to the top fifty almost in all the fields in Physics.

According to the research lead by TUBITAK, using the Thomson and Reuters InCite Database, the ranking of the Turkish universities based on the research papers they publish and the Impact factor (IF) for their papers over the ten-year-period 2004-2014 has been released. With regard to their IF figures, the papers in all the scientific fields considered, the Nuclear physics turns out to be the second from the top with a IF figure 13.06 well above the world average IF: 8.29. The distinguished works of the members of our department working actively in the Nuclear Physics field has seemed to secure the 9^th place in the ranking for Ömer Halisdemir (Nigde) University. In addition, in the particular field of Fluids and Plasma Physics, Ömer Halisdemir (Nigde) University has settled to 9^th place in the ranking as well. The research results also reflect the fact that Physics Department has also contributed to the rankings in the top fifty in the other research fields including Particle and Fields Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Mathematical Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Applied Physics and Multi-disciplinary Physics.
