General Information

Niğde University’s proposal about opening of some departments in The Faculty of Education was examined in the meeting of Higher Education Executive Council in 30/05/2012 and it was made the decision about opening of The Department of Special Education in The Faculty of Education in Niğde University in accordance with the article no. 7/d-2 (changed with the law no. 2880) of the law no. 2547.

Specific Admission Requirements

Admission of national students to the SPECIAL EDUCATION program is contingent on success on the nationally centralized Student Selection Examination (OSYS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Candidates who succeed on the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam)  examination are enrolled according to their type verbal score preferences.

Assessment and Grading System

The exams in Omer Halisdemir University are made in accordance with Omer Halisdemir University Undergraduate Education and Exam Regulation by considering student workload in Bologna Process.

Proficiency Criterion 

Candidates must achieve all courses in the program and their grade point average must be 2.00 on 4.00-point scale in order to graduate from the program.

Academic Progress Opportunities

Students graduated from the program can continue postgraduate education if they provide the requirements in Postgraduate Education Regulation.

Program Duration 

Undergraduate program lasts 4 years.

Working Areas 

The ones graduated from Special Education Teacher Training Program, can work in schools for students with special needs or schools in which inclusion teaching is applied, hospital schools, special education and rehabilitation centers, and counseling and research centers.
