World Food Day Event
"World Food Day" is celebrated annually on October 16th by the joint decision of 147 member countries at the 20th conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The purpose of this day is to raise public awareness about the dimensions and significance of food and nutrition issues worldwide, to sensitize and engage people in the fight against hunger, to prevent food waste, and to call on everyone to combat poor nutrition and hunger.
Each year, World Food Day is celebrated with different themes. This year, the theme is "Water is Life, Water is Food, and Leave No One Behind."
An event for World Food Day was organized at our Department of Food Engineering in Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University with the support of our esteemed Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan USLU. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Murat BARUT, our Deputy Deans, Prof. Dr. Metin Hakan SEVERCAN, and our Deputy Dean who also serves as the Head of the Food Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Hasan TANGÜLER, as well as department faculty members and our dear students.
