Our Mathematics Department is aiming to make the unknowns of mystical world of Mathematics understandable, to transfer a whole body of mathematically driven knowledge which conveys the idea of fulfilment of reaching desired results by using already known knowledge, to provide students with good, sound mathematical sense and free creative thinking based on sound logical consistency, to educate individuals who make researches, do interpretations and who can apply their knowledge to other knowledge fields as an interdiciplinary manner. Because of these facts and academical purposes mentioned above, Mathematics Department currently offers undergraduate level B.Sc. programme, graduate level M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes and their related degrees to all interested and qualified students. 

B.Sc. Degree requirements

40 students checked in Mathematics department for the education term 2019-2020 . Duration of the undergraduate level B.Sc. degree education is four (4) years and a student has to achieve score of 2.00 GPA ( out of 4.00) for graduation. In order to enroll in a double degree programmes which are available in the Ömer Halisdemir University, students are expected to achieve 3.0 GPA or more out of 4.0.

Students of Mathematics Department who are eligible to enroll double degree programmes can take courses from Physics, Chemistry, Biology departments of Arts and Letters Faculty; Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electric and Electronic Engineering departments of Engineering Faculty; Economics and Business Administration departments Economics and Busines Administration Faculty. Upon succesful completion of the required courses, students of Mathematics Department can finish their double degree education.

M.Sc. Degree Requirements

A M.Sc degree aplicant must meet the criterias and requirements determined and posted by Natural Sciences Institute of Graduate School every year. Succesful candidates who are elligible for enroling graduate student to Graduate School have to enroll to the department they applied for and, then they have to pass succesfully all core must cources related to their field of study in their department.

After succesful completion of the required course work, student has to give a seminar related to their field of research and, then has to conduct research on a topic given by their academic advisor. Student has to write his/her research thesis based on their research topic in accordance with thesis writing regulations and has to do oral presentation of the thesis. Student can earn the M.Sc. degree at least in 2 years period.

Ph.D. Degree Requirements

In our department, Ph.D. programme has been active since 2010. A ph. D. Degree student has to pass succesfully all core must cources related to their field of study in their department. After succesful cmpletion of course work, student has to pass succesfully Ph.D. qualifying examination given by the department.

As a final step of the Ph.D. degree education, Ph.D. candidates who already passed the qualifying examinatio, will conduct a academic research on an original problemtopic to be solved by student under the gudance of the ecedmic advisor and finishes the research by writing his/her Ph.D. thesis.

Physical and Educational Setting

Our department offers wide, bright and technologically supported physical amenities and educational settings and also all graduate students have their own Office rooms in the department.

Geographical Location

As typical central Anatolia city Nigde, which is situated in touristic Cappadocia area known for its natural settings and historical places, is also an touristic place with Old Roman Bath, Gumusler Monastery, Tyna Roman Waterways, some other historical places from Anatolian Seljuk Turks and Turkish Ottoman Empire era. Besides these historical values, Nigde city is surrounded by some of the beautiful and reknown mountains of Turkey, especially Bolkar and Aladaglar Mountains and Demirkazık trekking trails are some of the examples of rich availability of mountain sports.

With foundation and expansion of Nigde University during the last 20 years, the Nigde city has become a university centered and oriented city. Besides this fact, having economical living expenses, safe and cheap transportation in and out of city, adequate and various residing options for students, friendly and considerate local residents of Nigde, very low level of crime occurence, dependebale and safe social environment make Nigde city and Nigde University a very attractive and strong choice for university students.
