Niğde city was founded in BC. 612 by Kimmer community first. Then the city was used by Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods respectively. It is located in the Cappadocia Region and adjacent to the coastal provinces such as Antalya, Mersin and Adana in the south. It is a famous Anatolian city with drinking water resources such as drinking-hot springs.
The area around the city is surrounded by Aladağlar National Park, Taurus Mountains and volcanic Hasan Mountain.
Due to these characteristics, cultural tourism, health tourism, mountain sports-trecking/camping activities in Niğde are unique.
In the city center, the Nigde Museum exhibits all the historical richness of the city. It is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The street, which is the first settlement in the city center and which has the Niğde’s Historical Stone Houses is called "Eski Niğde". Some of the houses has been restored in accordance with the original structure by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University and offers the opportunity for walking lovers to walk on the streets. In addition, the restored stone houses have been converted into guest houses and are open to accommodation at affordable prices.
Within the historic Nigde Castle, the Alaaddin Mosque and the head of the Crowned Woman with the entrance door of this mosque are unique.
Gumusler Ruins and Monastery contain smiling Mary frescoes the first in the world.
The Roman pool and Tyana aqueducts where the drinking water is carried by the Romans to the city on the arches is located in the town of Kemerhisar.
Öküz Mehmet Pasha Caravanserai is a caravanserai that Faruk Nafiz ÇAMLIBEL, who wrote the poem “Han Duvarları”, had mentioned in the poem is located in the Ulukışla district of Niğde province.
