Being healthy is an indispensable, individual, inherent and one of the most fundamental human rights. Possible well-being at the highest level in terms of psychological, social and physical aspects, which means, being in good health depends on economic and social stability of the society where people live. Health is accepted as one of the essential instruments to decrease poverty in the cities, regions, countries and even in the world and it has an important role in the sustainable development. Making an investment to enhance health level and after being advanced, implementing a plan, program and strategic targets in the direction of related political decisions taken in this field are also contributing social and economic development of the country.

There is a bilateral relation between development and health. The more enhancements in the area of health affect developments, the more effectively economic and social developments affect enhancements of health care services. It is impossible for the individuals and the society to be indifferent to changes emerging in both fields.

Rapid change of information and technology has an impact on rendering of services to make individuals healthy. In parallel with changing economic and social needs it is important that individuals receive equal and fair health care services throughout lifetime passing from birth till death so that they are in good health. A quality health care service is also provided by only highly qualified professionals in health.

With the aim of training health care professionals who are closely following up the current advancements, who are full competent and specialist in his/her field and who are capable of providing health care services in clinic or field to meet health care needs of an individual, a family or a society, universities have great responsibilities.   In educating individuals to meet health care needs of the society, our school of higher education has been acting with this mission.

There are Children Development, Midwife, Nursing, Medical Institution Management and Social Services Department in our school of higher education. Our school of higher education which has been continuing its training and education activities in Nursing Department since 1996-1997 and after 1999 Midwife Department has been making important contributions to provide a service for the right of ‘being healthy and receiving health care services’ and to train qualified labor force who is serving for health. Education of academic personnel in Children Development, Medical Institution Management and Social Services Department continues in other universities.

With academic personnel, our school of higher education train future personnel in Nursing and Midwife who have sense of necessary responsibility, who are following up advanced information and technology in his/her field with the aim of protecting, enhancing and improving health and who have enough knowledge and competency to provide health care service for the society.

In addition to this, it is one of the schools of higher education which can carry out effectively ‘Cooperation between City and University’ that our university attributes importance to. Acquired information in theoretical lectures of our university transforms to skills in the practice fields. Our students have opportunity to do practice in Public and Family Health Centers, public and private hospitals, schools affiliated with Provincial Directorate of National Education and institutions associated with Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies so that they provide health care service enhancing and protecting individual’s health and offering treatments and rehabilitation activities.

Within the scope of national and international training cooperation works, numerous students find opportunity to continue a period of their education in different and distinguished higher education institutions via exchange programs such as Erasmus, Farabi and Mevlana and other bilateral protocols.  Through the same cooperation channels, a lot of national and international students receive education in our faculty. Thanks to the bilateral agreement between Institute of Science and Technology of our university and Institute of Science and Technology of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, we also have a joint Master Program in Nursing Department.
