One of the basic needs of human beings, the security, is defined as an important problem since the first humans. For solving this fateful issue, firstly individuals and institutions than governments take precautions. However, changing and developing circumstances are causing security not only performed by military level but also fulfilled and enlarged this institution by law enforcement agencies as an obligation. Nevertheless, law enforcement agencies, divided into two as being suppressor and being protector, means police, military police, local guards; these agencies, today, have a structure that covers wide scales. Therefore, inner and external securities are ranging to police towards municipal police and this situation is seemed as managerial and financial burdens to local governments. Finally, in order to get rid of these burdens, to reach the globalization and specialization of public service perception, the settlement of special security concept has started.

In our country, the special security foundations and opportunities were provided by Providing Protection and Security of Some Institutions and Foundations Law (no: 2495), Law of Services of Special Security (no: 5188). Today, the alternation in the meaning of special security and even the protection of public institutions are done by law enforcement agencies have increased the demand of qualified personnel in the sector of security. Therefore, vocational schools and related institutions have started special security and protection programs with sense of responsibilities that originated from developments in the security sector. Gradually increasing numbers of these programs mirror the demand of special security.

In the academic year of 2012-2013, in order to train academically qualified personnel for fulfilling the demands that explained above, Nigde Ömer Halisdemir University have started Private Security and Protection Program under the department of Property Protection and Security, in Nigde Vocational School of Social Sciences.
