LEATHER TECHNOLOGIES
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Vocational School of Bor Halil-Zöhre Ataman Leather Technologies Program, depending on Selçuk University, Niğde Vocational School, began in Bor, in the year of 1990. Leather industry have a long history in the region, and it is an important employment center and has been one of the most important factors for opening Leather Program. Since 1992, with the establishment of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Bor Halil-Zöhre Ataman Vocational School of Leather Technologies Program has continued its activities to date. In the year of 1998-1999 with the opening of Bor Halil-Zöhre Ataman Vocational of School, Leather Technologies Program became part of this school. From the academic year 2009-2010 in the Textile, Clothing, Footwear and LEATHER TECHNOLOGIES PROGRAM which based on Leather Department, has continued its operations.
Leather Technologies Associate Degree Program, each two-year program consists of 30 ECTS worth four semesters. An ECTS refers to a student’s workload of 30 hours for each semester. The academic activities of the program, has been carried out by three faculty members, who have experience in the private sector for a long time.

In the program, undergraduate students who has been in the first year; began to the program with English, Turkish Language, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution as the required courses as well as the Leather of the Introduction, Raw Hides & Histology, Leather Production, Chemistry, Mathematics, Leather Machinery, Organic Chemistry, General Leather Technologies and Leather Microbiology & Diseases lessons. The students, who have been in the second year concentrate on the area which they will work in their future, related to the field; Leather Chemistry, Cattle Leather Processing Techniques, Sheep Leather Processing Techniques, Finishing, Technological Maturity, Leather Painting Techniques and that area of interest by choosing their elective courses. At the end of the second year, students who successfully graduate from the program become technician.
The workshop of the program, which is comprised of 1300 m² has a modern and technical equipment. The students of the Program carries out the application, in here in accordance with the developing and changing technologies. Our students gain the knowledge and experience about the leather processing technologies as well as the decorative and the leather products which have visual quality.

The goal of the program is to educate qualified leather technicians who are able to transfer their information about Leather Technologies to the modern educational methods, to be able to practice their profession in the national and the international level, to be able to meet the needs of industry, well-equipped, to be able to increase the competitiveness of the Turkish leather industry in the world markets.
Objectives
Leather Technologies Program’s goal is training the professional leather technicians for the leather industry. The main objective of the department, is to teach the concepts related to leather tanning technology and provide the steps. The program aims to equip students with the capabilities of functional and visual identity of students, development of skin ensures processing.
Level of Qualification and Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the program students will be given the degree of the LEATHER TECHNICIAN.
Leather Technologies Associate Degree program, is a two-year program which consists of 120 ECTS credits. The Program of the Bologna Process "Top European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (QF-EHEA)" as defined in the second stage (second cycle) and "Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ)" as defined in the "Level 5" is set for qualifications ECTS credit conditions and the level of competence, at the same time, the "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL)" as defined in the "level 5" provides the proficiency.
Admission Requirements
Turkish students, are chosen to the Leather Technologies Program according to the exam which is made by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), in order of preference of YGS-2 points.

Recognition of Previous Learning
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University on the basis of the principle of lifelong learning, courses previously taken another institution are recognized and learning outcomes of these courses, which Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University graduation credits are registered if it is compatible with that program’s exams. Compliance and exemption issues of learning outcomes by the School Board are decided in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Profile of the Program
In order to be remembered as the first to arrive products in the world as "the Turkish brand" with the necessary qualifications and background is one of the important areas. For trained manpower in this field, workers who have an innovative point of view, can write the production process of different types of recipes, can apply the methods of modern and can environmentally friendly leather finishing problems that will occur in the production process are educated.
Leather Technologies associate's degree program ( QF-EHEA Bologna Process Framework for Higher Education Qualifications: Quick Level, in TYYÇ Level 5), is a program the basic theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field in the same area at the same level or a higher level of education earned skills to use in an area program.
Program students to be able to use the basic knowledge and skills, use the acquired data to evaluate, define problems, and analyze the evidence-based solutions.

The students who graduate from this section receive the title of ‘LEATHER TEACHNICIAN’ Our students are employed in the leather production factories, leather chemicals and leather sector enterprises producing & marketing specialist, with the title of ‘leather technician’ in all business lines.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To be able to gain efficiency by graduating from Leather Technologies Associate's Degree program in this area;
• The students must achieve courses, in the lesson plan, which have 120 ECTS credits,
• The students must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00,
• The students must complete 30 business days (8 ECTS credits) during the summer internship.

Access to Further Studies
The students are accepted according to the Vertical Jump Test (DGS) made by (ÖSYM), in the Entrance Exam related areas considered higher level on the basis of their scores. Also the students who entitled as a pre-bachelor's degree have the right registration with open admission from Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Undergraduate Programs 3rd.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
The program provided for Leather Technologies during the methods used to measure whether the learning outcomes achieved are listed below. Course units in the course of an output section with a description of its contribution to the overall exam grades are shown with;

Examinations
Students in Leather Technologies Program curriculum prescribed learning outcomes for each course unit how successful they are in achieving, at the end of each term and mid-term events measured in the general examinations.
Evaluation of activities during the period, include by specified in the regulation for all the courses required for pre-graduate programs, methods of assessment and, if necessary, at least a number of intermediate exam.
Programs are encouraged to ensure that goals and objectives of the education program and course-level outcomes in measuring the success of the mid-term, depending on the need for further assessment method for the identification of activities. The number and nature of the assessment methods used for each course, course descriptions along with their contributions to the final grade sections are listed under the heading of "Assessment and Evaluation". At the beginning of each semester, these regulations are announced in advance and posted on the website, in the course descriptions sections.
Midterm exam and the general exams are made in the date and place declared by the university. Notes the end of each semester, midterm exams, homework, assessment, based on the results of the general examination and any other assessment, taking into account conditions on students' attendance is given by the instructors.
The contributions of the grades of the in-term activities and final exam grade to the final success grade of a course are determined by the course instructor and announced to students within the first two weeks of the semester. Moreover, the contribution of the final exam cannot be less than 40 % and higher than 60% for all the courses within all the degree programmes defined by the Regulations.
One written midterm exam, homework or exam does not require general courses such as job placement, determined by the relevant departments and managements assessment and grading methods for these courses are announced through the channels mentioned above. Evaluation of this type of activity is done in accordance with the principles set out by the senate, and students are assessed as successful or as unsuccessful.
Grading
Each evaluation of a student's success is defined for each course (general and mid-term studies) is evaluated by the instructor. Assessments are made out of 100 points. GPA at the end of the period taking into account the standard deviation and relative evaluation method of the class passing grade is converted to a letter grade.
