Technical Field Trip Organized within the Scope of the “Vegetable Production” Course
As part of the “Vegetable Production” course, a technical field trip was organized on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with the participation of 2nd-year students from the Department of Plant Production and Technologies. The event aimed to provide students with the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and observe practical applications in the agricultural sector.
The first stop of the trip was Çukurova Fide AŞ., a modern commercial seedling production facility. The company’s Operations Manager, Agricultural Engineer Ali ANDI, gave a comprehensive presentation on all stages of vegetable seedling production, from sowing to marketing. This allowed the students to closely observe the processes they had previously studied in theoretical lectures.
In the second part of the trip, students visited the pepper and banana greenhouses owned by producer Bülent OĞUL. They received detailed information about production practices and observed greenhouse vegetable and tropical fruit cultivation on-site.
The trip was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Sevgi ÇALIŞKAN, Head of the Department, and Research Assistant Dr. K. Sinem TULUKOĞLU KUNT, the course instructor, who guided students throughout the day.
Through this technical visit, our students had the valuable opportunity to enhance their knowledge and experience by witnessing real-life plant production practices.
