The objective of this course is to give an overview of general information about the principal of classical, molecular and population genetics. It presents principles and methods used in the study of genetics. This course will cover the origion of genetics and molecular biology, plant reproductive biology, structure of DNA and RNA, review of cell division, mitosis and meiosis, genes are made of DNA, Mendelian genetics, laws of segragation, law of independent assortment.

Pomology and phenology of nuts (walnut, hazelnut, almond, chestnut and pictachio), pome fruits (apple, pear, quince etc.) and stone fruits (cherry, peach, nectarin, apricot, sweet cherry, plum etc.) will be examined. Detail cultural practice such as irrigation, fertilization, prunning, thinning practices will be studied. Orchard establishment of each crop will be examined with site selection, climatic conditions, soil management etc.
