NOHUNAM has been founded by support of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University and Turkish Ministry of Development in 2011 and begin to research by the end of 2014. NOHUNAM infrastructure has been built up in the central campus area of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University. NOHUNAM cutting-edge research focuses on solar energy and systems, graphene and thermal energy in global level. We conduct our research in colloboration with universities and industry and our technical expertise transfers to other technology areas, including: optoelectronics, smart windows, battaries, fuel cells and hydrogen storage. NOHUNAM aims to be main driver for solar energy R&D, providing services and access to facilities to industries and researchers in this region and Turkey. Other important goal of the laboratory is to educate students through research experiences in nanotechnology and to remain on the competitive edge of new developments. NOHUNAM has been awarded several project from TUBİTAK and Ministry of Development Regional Administration Unit (KOP).
There are currently 6 faculty members affiliated with NOHUNAM, 1 research assistant, 2 teaching assistant, 1 administrative staff members and more than 10 graduate students using NOHUNAM facilities.
NOHUNAM consist of several Research Laboratory focusing on hot topic fields of Nanotechnologies. These laboratories are:
- c-Si Heterojunction with Intrinsic Layer (Si-HIT) Solar Cell Research Laboratory
- c-Si HIT Photovoltaic Pilot Line
- Thin Film Solar Cell Laboratory
- Organic Photovoltaic Research Laboratory
