The Sports Management Department began its educational activities in the 2009-2010 academic year with 40 students at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Bor campus, within the Faculty of Sports Sciences. Our department has 3 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 3 Lecturers. Our department aims to provide its students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with the practical skills, leadership qualities, communication competencies, and organizational experience needed in the field of sports management.
Educational Facilities
Our department offers educational services with 3 indoor sports halls, 1 tennis court, 1 artificial turf field, 1 Olympic athletics and football field, 1 physiology laboratory, 1 performance measurement laboratory, 1 anatomy classroom, 1 massage room, 1 mountaineering room, 1 step-aerobics and rhythmic gymnastics hall, 1 fitness center, 1 computer laboratory, 1 seminar hall, and 9 classrooms.
Department Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Sports Management Department, a student must successfully complete all undergraduate courses, including compulsory and elective courses, totaling 240 ECTS credits, within 8 semesters (4 years), and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00. Upon successful completion of the program, our students graduate with the title of Sports Manager.
Post-Graduation Career Opportunities
Our graduates can work in public institutions, sports federations, professional and amateur sports clubs, recreation centers, fitness and wellness facilities, and sports organizations, depending on their preferences. They can also specialize in different areas of the sports sector, pursuing various career opportunities such as management and coaching.
Our graduates who successfully pass the Ministry of National Education Academy Entrance Examination (MEB-AGS), meet the conditions specified in the Teaching Profession Law No. 7528, and successfully complete the National Education Academy can become Physical Education and Sports Teachers.
In addition, our graduates have the opportunity to pursue academic careers and participate in scientific research by continuing their education in postgraduate programs in Sports Management, Physical Education and Sports, Sports Sciences, and related fields.
