General Information

Niğde Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Department of Property Protection and Security, Occupational Health and Safety Program has been established to train competent "Occupational Health and Safety Technicians" who can take responsibility in all occupational health and safety issues with the help of up-to-date technology, follow and interpret legal legislation regarding occupational accidents and occupational diseases that may occur in working life (public and private sector). Our program, theoretically and practically, is supported by contemporary education methods in accordance with today's conditions and allows our students to graduate from our program in a way that will have sufficient experience in the professional field. Occupational Health and Safety program, students who enter the the transition to higher education examination made by the transition to higher education examination and get enough "TYT" points will be able to be placed.
With the Law No. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety, there is the possibility of employment of personnel related to occupational health and safety (occupational safety specialist, workplace physician, etc.) in the private and public sector, which has increased the demand for graduates of our program. In addition, our students who graduate as technicians will be able to have a "Class C Occupational Safety Specialist" certificate by participating in the Class C Occupational Safety Specialist training conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Instutition, General Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety and by being successful in the exam to be held after the training.
Students who will study at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University may be exempted from the courses in some cases according to Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations. In order for students to be exempt from the courses, they must apply to be exempt from the courses within the specified periods and obtain approval from the school board of directors. The exams held at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University are held in accordance with the student workload specified in the Bologna process according to Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.
In order for our students to graduate, they must successfully complete the courses available in the program (120 ECTS in total) and obtain a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree diploma in the field of "Occupational Health and Safety". Students who graduate from the program can continue their education and training in undergraduate programs with external transfer exam made by student selection and placement center. External transfer exam fields are Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Health Management, Social Work departments.

Objective
Our program is to train the intermediate manpower needed by all sectors in the field of "Occupational Health and Safety" in accordance with the quality understanding that will meet the expectations of the age.

Goal
It educates graduates who have the knowledge required by technological developments, have gained the ability to apply, have knowledge in production techniques, have the knowledge and skills to solve professional problems, can use contemporary equipment, have an associate degree diploma.

Level-Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ) and Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded an Associate's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety VOCATIONAL ELEMENT.
Occupational Health and Safety Program is a 2-year associate degree program consisting of 120 ECTS credits. The program meets the ECTS credit requirements and level qualifications determined for the "First Cycle" defined in the "European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (QF-EHEA)" of the Bologna Process and the "Level 5" qualifications defined in the "Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ)"; as well as the "Level 5" qualifications defined in the "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL)".

Recognition of Prior Learning
Based on the principle of lifelong learning, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University recognizes courses previously taken at another institution and exempts them from graduation credits if the learning outcomes of these courses are compatible with the program contents registered at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University. The compatibility of learning outcomes and exemption issues are decided by the School Board in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

In order for the weekly lesson plan to be both appropriate to the developing technology and valid in the market, the demands of the employer segment and the graduates and the professional staff working in the workplace were taken into consideration. The data obtained were used as a reference for the validity of the weekly lesson plan.

Exams
How successful the students are in achieving the prescribed learning outcomes of each course unit in the Occupational Health and Safety Program curriculum is measured by in-semester activities and final exams at the end of each semester. The evaluation of in-semester activities includes at least midterm and final exams as mandatory evaluation methods for all courses in associate degree programs determined by the regulation. Programs are encouraged to define more assessment methods for in-semester activities depending on the need to measure the achievement of outcomes at the program and course level to meet educational goals and objectives. The nature and number of assessment methods used for each course, and their contribution to the final grade, are given in the course descriptions under the heading "Assessment and Evaluation". These regulations are announced in advance, at the beginning of each semester, and published in the course description sections of the website.
Midterm and final exams are held on the dates, places and times determined and announced by the university. The final grades of the students are given by the instructors based on the results of the midterm exam, homework evaluation, quizzes, final exam and other evaluation results, if any, taking into account that the students meet the attendance requirement.
The contribution of in-semester activities in determining the final grade may be a maximum of 40%, and the contribution of the final exam shall be a minimum of 40% and a maximum of 60% for all courses in all undergraduate programs determined by the Regulation. Courses such as work placement that do not require a midterm, homework, quiz and/or final exam are determined by the administrations of the relevant departments and specific evaluation and grading methods for these courses are announced through the channels described above. The evaluation of such activities is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Senate and is evaluated as Pass or Fail.

Evaluation
The success of a student is evaluated by the instructor for each assessment (semester studies and final) defined for each course. The evaluation is made out of 100 full points and at the end of the semester, taking into account the standard deviation and the grade average of the class, it is converted into a letter grade using the relative evaluation method, the principles of which are determined by the Senate.
