A. INFORMATION ON TASK/JOBS

       1) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TASK/JOB

The head of the department identifies the instructors who will lecture the Turkish Language lessons by making the curriculum of the Turkish Language courses via coordinating with the units that teach the other common compulsory courses taught in the units of our University.

       2) TASK/JOB AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Head of Department may directly correspond with the units within the body of Ömer Halisdemir University to reduce the bureaucratic intensity and to speed up the running when necessary.
  • The technical hardware and equipment (hardware such as Projection, Computer) required for conducting Turkish Language I-II courses are prepared by the units where the lessons are given.
  • All kinds of activities of the department related to education, research and department at all levels are carried out regularly, effectively and efficiently.
  • In all matters regarding the Republic of Turkey, the university plans scientific and academic activities such as conferences, seminars, panels, congresses inside and outside, or makes scientific contributions to planned activities.
  • To ensure that Undergraduate Education, and examination regulations, the Turkish Language Department Education and Examination Regulations, and instructions are followed.
  • To ensure that the department secretariat works are carried out.
  • To ensure cooperation and harmony between the instructors in the department.
  • To ensure the preparation and continuity of scientific researches and projects in the department.
  • To take measures to increase the scientific research and publication power of the department, to encourage and assist academic staff to participate in national and international activities.
  • To convene and chair the department board.
  • To organize a meeting at the beginning of each academic year, where the fulfillment of the assignment of courses is done per the scheme of education.
  • To chair the Board of the Department, where the faculty members who will instruct the courses are determined at the beginning of each academic year.
  • To take the necessary measures to ensure that the lessons are efficient and not interrupted during each academic year.
  • To sign the permission petitions of the faculty members of the department and to report them to the Rectorate.
  • To inform the Rectorate of the term time extension petition and files of the academic staff of the department.
  • To ensure the preparation of the course distribution chart (open lists) and checkmarks showing the course load to be used in the tuition calculations of the department faculty members and to submit them to approval.
  • To follow the faculty members in the department and to ensure that they do their tasks outrightly.
  • To ensure that education and research activities and outline syllabuses comply with other universities and universities abroad
  • and are kept up-to-date by cooperating with the institutions and individuals that are the joint-owners of the department.
  • To ensure that the course schedule and course assignments are done in a fair, objective and balanced manner.
  • To monitor students' success.
  • To monitor the performance of the academic staff and to report the results to the Rectorate when necessary.
  • To make the necessary planning for the staff structure of the department to be sufficient.
  • To protect and store documents, movable and immovable property related to their tasks.
  • To fulfill the tasks assigned to him/her in time, complete, and in the way that ensures the saving of labor, time and material.
  • To take the necessary precautions to protect the office equipment and fixtures under his/her responsibility against any damage. To ensure that the existing tools, equipment and all kinds of materials under his/her responsibility are used correctly and economically.
  • The Head of Department is responsible to the Vice-Rector for his works and transactions.
