Turkish Sign Language course was organized for the academic and administrative staff of our university.
A Turkish Sign Language (TSL) Course was organized for the academic and administrative staff of our university in order to support the academic and social lives of our students with special needs in a more effective and high-quality manner. The course was conducted at our Faculty of Education under the coordination of the Office of Disability Services, in line with our institutional commitment to quality and accessibility. The course, which began on November 26, 2025 and lasted a total of 120 hours, was successfully completed on February 4, 2026. The participation of academic staff from the Faculty of Education further strengthened interdepartmental collaboration and reinforced our inclusive education approach.
The program attracted significant interest, as it aimed to enhance our staff’s communication competencies, foster healthier, more direct, and sustainable communication with our hearing-impaired students, and promote an accessible, inclusive, and high-quality learning and working environment across our university. Additionally, in order to expand a culture of institutional awareness, staff members’ children were occasionally included in the course activities. In this way, it was intended to cultivate awareness and sensitivity toward sign language from an early age. In this respect, the program represented not only an in-service training activity but also an important reflection of our commitment to sustainable quality and social responsibility.
