Nigde Ömer Halisdemir University Department of Mining Engineering was founded in 2005 in the body of faculty of Engineering and Architecture in order to mainly educate qualified mining engineers and in order to make use of the industrial and energy raw materials and metallic ores found in the region of Middle Anatolia which has considerable mine potential and therefore to contribute to economy and in order to find solutions to problems as to mining and to carry out research and development activities. It started giving education in 2008-2009 academic year. Those who have completed obligatory-optional courses and apprenticeship graduate from University as mining engineers. Our department consists of Mine management and ore dressing divisions. Currently 2 Proffesor doctor, 4 associate professor doctor and 2 assistant professor doctors are employed in our Department. Academic studies carried out in our department focus on especially soil and rock mechanics, marble and aggregate technologies, rehabilitation of opencast mining field, coal preparation, micronized grinding, metallic ore dressing and waste utilization of establishment.
