General Information
Ömer Halisdemir University in 1992 with the establishment of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences opened. Turkey within the framework of the present historical period dating back to the beginning date, the Department of History, Culture and Civilization to various surveys carried out in the context of relations with other nations and cultures, and training is provided. It also questioned the department, participatory, dynamic, with the national values ??of the universal aims to educate individuals think. With the region's social and cultural development of our country's unity and integrity of the task he has agreed to contribute.
The department only in the Turkish history, culture and civilization in the field, but also in other nations and cultures, also focuses on the historical relations. Inquisitive, exploratory, edition critique made original contributions to the social sciences to provide movement of materials and aims to bring students to the scientific approach.
History Department Undergraduate Program "Bologna Process" is included. Each one is worth 30 ECTS consists of eight four-year program period. ECTS workload of 30 hours for each semester a student refers to. There are 5 Professors, 2 Associate Professor, 4 Assistant Professors and 1 Research Assistant as department staff.
Our department consists of compulsory courses and elective courses. Date for first-year graduate students in this program from Antiquity General Turkish History, Islamic History and the History of the Great Seljuk and Ottoman courses are mainly. Methodology of History History of Seljuk Turkey with the second grade class, Anat History, Ottoman History Foundation, Roman and Byzantine History, European History, Ottoman and Ottoman Historians and Works as professional courses. In the third and fourth grades, students receive lessons mainly Ottoman Empire. Ottoman History, General Turkish History and historical issues is essential to the Republic of Turkey. Political, cultural, economic, and social issues related to the topics of local history, the Ottoman organizational structure and further concentrate their profession by taking elective courses. 8 At the end of the semester "Department of History Degree" are graduated based.
Successfully complete the courses to graduate students in the program (240 ECTS credits) and of 4.00 is required to obtain an average grade of at least 2.00.
Successful students if they wish to Turkish Language and Literature, Art History, Sociology, Public Administration and Business Administration Major or Minor training as well as other sections can.
Students who graduate from the program in accordance with the Regulation on Graduate Education to provide the necessary conditions may continue their education in graduate studies and case.
Department of History, Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern History of the Republic of Turkey, including 4 Department is available. Department of History since 2008, secondary education (evening) students have also been received. Each section is 130 students.
Our students and faculty members through bilateral agreements with the European Union and other countries in the post-graduate training abroad under the Erasmus program have the opportunity to sustain. Various universities in the country under the MEVLANA FARABİ projects also provided the ability to benefit from cooperation and exchange. Number of foreign students, especially from the Turkish Republics department is increasing every year.
Aims and Objectives
Aims :
To know all the methods of research and investigation within the scope of the science of history, using the methods of scientific research and investigation independently owned scientific work is carried out in a way, the profession in order to render more effective cooperation between other disciplines has the potential to be appropriate and suitable, culture, art, and the protection of natural assets and maintaining sensitive to the point of being capable of thinking and contemporary history in the field to provide practical solutions to solve a problem, to have the ability to successfully manage these solutions, as well as the individual in the face of events that bring awareness to look at the social point of view.
Objectives :
The main objectives of the department of researchers, academics, teachers, etc. that will arise in the field of the different periods and processes, the problem historians of the future to meet the needs and deficiencies, to train students in the fields of intellectual and research to gain knowledge and develop analytical thinking skills perspective, high-quality and well-equipped student train, the country is full of love for the nation, the country's interests over the interests of its holding, which have a history, determined, devoted and responsible individuals, to train students to direct research and study, to increase creativity and productivity, inquisitive, exploratory, creative, and students with an integrative perspective train.
Level of Qualification and Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded with the qualification of BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN HISTORY.
A Bachelor's Degree Program in HİSTORY is a 240 ECTS Credits, 4-year program. The program meets the requirements by both the ECTS credits and level descriptors of the first cycle degree qualifications of the Overarching Framework of European Qualifications Framework HE(QF-EHEA) and the 6th level qualifications of the Turkish Qualifications Framework for HE (TYYÇ, NQF-HETR). The level descriptors also meet the 6th level requirements of the qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL) .
Specific Admission Requirements
Admission of national students to the ART HİSTORY program is contingent on success on the nationally centralized Student Selection Examination (OSYS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Candidates who succeed on the LYS examination (Undergraduate Placement Examination) are enrolled according to their type TS-2 score preferences.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning
With an understanding of lifelong learning, Ömer Halisdemir University recognizes the previously taken courses in another institution and exempt them from graduation credit, as long as the courses match with the learning outcomes of the registered programme at Ömer Halisdemir University. The learning outcome match and the exemption are decided by the Faculty Board in line with the related laws and regulations.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
Our graduates are doing post-graduate education according to personal interests and preferences, and private classes in private schools as a teacher can do, if they are successful in KPSS exam by taking part in the teaching staff of the Ministry of Education are serving. The qualification of History is obtained upon graduation from the programme History , which requires;

- Achievement of a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to master’s (second cycle) and in some cases, to doctorate (third cycle) degree programs in or related fields of History. According to the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to master’s programmes taking into account their undergraduate (first cycle degree) achievement level and the scores on the subject-specific entrance examinations of the Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) centrally administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulatethe weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the institutions’ regulations, for some programmes to be accessed, a certain level of foreign language proficiency is also required.

Examinations:
The success of students in achieving the expected leaning outcomes of the each course unit within the curriculum of History programme is evaluated via assessments of in-term activities and final examination which takes place at the end of each semester.
Assessment of in-term activities includes a minimum number of a mid-term examination, a homework and a short-exam (quiz) as compulsory assessment methods for all the course units within all degree programmes defined by the Regulations. The programmes are encouraged to define more assessment methods for the in-term activities depending on their needs for measuring the achievements of the outcomes at the programme and course unit levels in order to ensure the educational aims and objectives. The nature and number of the assessment methods used for each course unit together with their contribution the final grades are given under the title of “Assessment and Grading” in the sections of course descriptions. These arrangements are announced in advance, at the beginning of each semester and published in the sections of the course descriptions on this web site.
Mid-term and final examinations are conducted in dates, places and times determined and announced by the University. The students’ final semester grade is given by their instructors based on mid-term examination, homework evaluation, short-examinations, final examination and, if there is any, other assessment results taking into account the students’ compliance with attendance to the course activities.
The contribution of assessment grades of the in-term activities to the final grade could be at most 40% and that of the final exam cannot be less than 40 % and higher than 60% for all for all the course units within all degree programmes defined by the Regulations.
Course units, which do not require a mid-term, homework, short-exam and/or a final exam, such as work placement, are determined by the administration of the related departments and specific assessment and grading methods for these courses are also announced through the same channels described above. Evaluation of such activities is made through the procedures defined by the Senate and assessed by Pass (P) or Fail (F) grades.
Grading:
The success of a student for each assessment (in-term and final) defined for each course unit is evaluated by the instructor. Evaluations are made over a scale of 100 points and converted to the letter grades at the end of the semester taking into account the standard deviation of grades and grade point average of the class and using the relative evaluation method, principles of which have been set by the Senate.

Graduation Requirements:
In order for a student to graduate from the History program the following conditions must to be met:
- Completion of all the courses designated within the curriculum of the programme, having a total of 240 ECTS Credits, with passing grades.
- Achievement of a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
