The Department of Biology, which was founded together with the foundation of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University in 1992, is one of the first departments. The Department of Biology, which started education and training in 1993 and graduated its first students in 1997, also started the graduate education in 1996.

Department of Biology have Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programs. Every year about 70 students are admitted to our department. The undergraduate program period is training four years.In the Biology Department, there are 12 research laboratories, 4 student laboratories, Herbarium, Zology Museum, Arachnology Museum.

Students and lecturers of the department carry out cooperation and exchange with many different countries within the ERASMUS project. The students who complete the undergraduate program with obligatory and optional lessons successfully become graduate student of Biology undergraduate program. In addition, Successful students may complete a second major or minor subject from other disciplines.

When the students who graduate from our department get pedagogical training, on being successful at Public Personnel Selection Examination they can be teacher by entering the staff of The Ministry of Education as well as at private schools and private teaching institutions. Our graduate students also may have a profession in medical, environmental, industrial, agricultural, forestry, and food sectors.

Postgraduate education is available in our department, that are MA and PhD. Students completing any one of the University Biology Departments has been declared and issued by the Institute of Science and by providing the conditions, enroll in these programs.

In every major branch of our department, many national and international scientific studies, BAP, TUBITAK etc. are carried out.
