Strengths

1. The fact that the department has a strong teaching staff composed of instructors who are trained or still receiving training.
2. The fact that the teaching staff is young and dynamic.
3. The fact that there is masters education.
4. The fact that graduated students are able to have a job in the fields of education, healthcare, agriculture, environment and industry.
5. The fact that multidisciplinary studies between biological science and other fields of science are carried out.
6. The fact that student exchange by Erasmus is increasing each year.
7. The fact that there are research laboratories where scientific studies are able to be carried out.
8. The fact that the instructors of the department carry out important projects such as TUBITAK, BAP etc.

Weaknesses

1. The fact that there is no doctoral program.
2. The fact that there is no laboratory or device which has advanced technological equipments.
3. The fact that the number of the instructors who go abroad by Erasmus is limited.
4. The differences in lecturing and course evaluation
5. The fact that laboratory courses and other lectures are not be able to carried out efficiently especially because of the excessive number of students.

Opportunities

1.  The fact that there is capacity for starting a doctoral program in the department
2.  The fact that there are instructors whose academic title are going to change soon
3.  Teaching staff who has the potential to make interdisciplinary studies.
4.  Capacity to be able to cooperate with the universities abroad.

Threats

1.  The fact that the formation of the program in regard to European standards is completed.
2.  The fact that no instructor or student comes from abroad by Erasmus.
3. Transition of the staff trained in the department to other departments.
4.  The fact that the laboratories of the department are not enhanced at a desired level
