TURKIC COUNCIL TURKIC UNIVERSITIES UNION

The Turkic Universities Union was established to cooperate in the field of higher education among the member states of the Turkic Council.

The establishment process started with the Meeting of the Ministers of Education of the Turkic Council on 10 August 2012 in Çolpon-Ata.

As a result of the decisions taken at the Second Summit of the Turkic Council on 23 August 2012 in Bishkek, the structure of the Union was revealed.

With the decisions taken at the Preparatory Meeting of the Turkic Council Turkic Universities Union held in Istanbul on 28-29 March 2013, Directive on the Establishment of the Turkic University Union and Higher Education Area was published.

Aims of the Turkic Universities Union:

-Ensuring cooperation among higher education institutions based on common history, culture and language heritage, and raising generations with a high level of common identity awareness through the application of modern and scientific education standards,

- Harmonization of programs in the member universities,

- Implementation of a common credit transfer system,

- Encouraging academic staff training programs,

- Introducing student and academic staff exchange programs,

- Establishing the appropriate ground for member universities to recognize each other's diploma equivalence

- Benefiting the outstanding advantages of universities in certain areas

- Implementation of joint teaching, research programs and projects,

- Organizing symposiums, academic activities, competitions in the fields of culture, science and sports among the member universities,

-Providing special scholarships to students conducting studies on the Turkish World,

-To carry out studies on giving common history, civilization and literature courses in all member universities.

Members:

Founded in 2013 with the membership of 15 universities from 4 member countries, the Union currently has 23 universities from five countries.
