General Information Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Department of Political Science and International Relations was established in 2010 as the fifth department within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and started to provide graduate education since 2018. There are 1 Professor, 5 Associate Professors, 1 Assistant Professor and 5 Doctoral Research Assistants and 1 Research Assistant in the department staff. Master's students have to complete a total of 120 ECTS courses, seminars and thesis studies in order to successfully complete the programme. In addition, graduate students can continue part of their education in European Union countries thanks to bilateral agreements made within the framework of Erasmus programme. Aims and Objectives Political Science and International Relations education is the right starting point for those who want to have a strong knowledge, to better comprehend the globalising world and to be successful in such a world. The department primarily aims to develop students' ability to understand, interpret and evaluate local, national and global phenomena and events in a critical and analytical manner, and to develop their capacity to develop solutions for problems arising at local, national and global levels. The department also aims to enable its students to participate in society as effective and responsible politicians, civil servants, administrators, scientists, political analysts and citizens after graduation. Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ) and Degrees Awarded The Master's Programme in Political Science and International Relations is a 2-year programme consisting of 120 ECTS credits. The programme meets the ECTS credit requirements and level qualifications specified for the ‘First Cycle’ defined in the ‘European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (QF-EHEA)’ of the Bologna Process and the ‘Level 7’ qualifications defined in the ‘Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ)’, as well as the ‘Level 7’ qualifications defined in the ‘European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL)’. Qualification Awarded: Students who successfully complete the programme are awarded the Master's Degree in Political Science and International Relations. Application Requirements Admission requirements are decided in accordance with the regulations set by the Higher Education Council of Turkey. Information about the requirements for application and admission to master's programmes is announced on the university's website at the beginning of each academic year. The following conditions apply to Turkish students: - Having a bachelor's degree - To have at least 55 points (or equivalent) from ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination) - To be proficient in YDS (Foreign Language Proficiency Level Test), ÜDS (Interuniversity Board Foreign Language Examination) or KPDS (Public Personnel Language Examination) at national level or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) foreign language exams at international level accepted by the Interuniversity Board. Students without foreign language proficiency may apply, but their scores in this area will be evaluated as 0. - Candidates who have received a Bachelor's Degree abroad must obtain a certificate of equivalence from the Council of Higher Education. - ALES score is valid for 3 years.
