Course Objective
Basic concepts of thermodynamics, forms of energy, system and its properties, concepts of pressure and temperature, zeroth law of thermodynamics, phases of pure matter, state changes, ideal gases, compressibility factor, 1st law of thermodynamics, application to closed and open systems, 2nd law of thermodynamics, reversible and irreversible process, Carnot cycle, heat engine, coolers, heat pump, entropy, reversible steady-flow work, reversible work and irreversibility, gas fluid power cycles, Otto and Diesel cycle, refrigeration cycles
Brief Content of the Course
The aim of this course is to students to be able to understand the laws of thermodynamics and to make them understand the basic principles of thermodynamics and their applications to engineering processes.
