Course Objective
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of heat exchanger analysis.
Brief Content of the Course
Types of heat exchangers and their properties. Classification of heat exchangers. Methods used in the analysis of heat exchangers: number of heat exchanger activity-transit units, logarithmic mean temperature difference, temperature activity-number of transition units depending on fluid variables of the cold side, temperature difference ratio-temperature activity methods. Pressure loss and pumping power in heat exchangers. Contamination in heat exchangers. Compact heat exchangers. Heat exchanger applications; Condensers, evaporators, heaters, economisers, and cooling kettles. Regenerator types and calculations.
