Course Objective
The relationship between history of science and philosophy. Acquiring strategies for the sustainability of knowledge learned in class.
Brief Content of the Course
The concepts of 'Science History' and 'Science Philosophy' as a discipline, their methods and aims, the relation of science to other human emotions like religious and aesthetics will be examined from the Sumerian to the concepts of science and philosophy developing in Mesopotamia, Egypt and Anatolian civilization basins . The great synthesis achieved by the ancient Aegean civilization on this accumulation will be studied, especially the Aristotelian philosophy-science series and the rise of the mathematical sciences in the Hellenistic period will be analyzed. After the emphasis on the place and role of the Islamic civilization, the emergence and development of the new empirical-mechanic-mathematical new way of knowing from the Middle Ages to the Newton, Newton, will be dealt with, the transformation of mentality that occurs through the Enlightenment, the separation of science and philosophy, The interaction with political life will be analyzed. The transformations that the new cosmology and physics that started with Einstein have caused in science and philosophy, the remodeling of the universe and the idea of nature will be discussed within the framework of contemporary science and philosophy.
