Course Objective
The aim is to provide basic information about medieval Islamic and Turkish architecture, the Great Seljuk period, Anatolian Seljuk architecture, Ottoman architecture, and early Republican period architecture.
Brief Content of the Course
Starting with medieval Islamic and Turkish architecture, the architectural styles, building types, and cultural contexts of the Great Seljuk, Anatolian Seljuk, Ottoman, and Early Republican Periods are examined. Sustainable architectural production methods and building types are discussed in relation to the social, cultural, and technological contexts of these periods. The transformation of architecture is evaluated through important examples from Turkey and around the world.
