Course Objective
This course aims to enable students to evaluate music as a cultural and social phenomenon and to provide a general overview of the basic concepts and methods of ethnomusicology.
Brief Content of the Course
The definition of ethnomusicology, its historical development, fundamental concepts and methods; the relationship between music and culture; music examples from different regions and an introduction to field research.
