Course Objective
To train conscious and attentive social workers who know the social structure and values of the society, comprehend and research their effects on health and consider them in their practices, and examine the concept of health with its social aspects.
Brief Content of the Course
Introduction to sociology, its history, definition, importance, aims, relationship with other sciences, definition of sociology of health, criteria for recognizing society, social aspects of health and disease concepts, social determinants of health, health inequalities such as gender, occupation, income status, disability, physician-nurse -midwife-staff-patient concepts and their relations with each other, historical development and stages of the health system in Turkey, health services, health literacy, health and media relations, social violence, bioethics, patient rights.
