R & D Objectives of Faculty of Agriculture Science and Technology
The aim is to improve and diversify agricultural production both quantitative and qualitative aspects. In accordance with this purpose, following points are determined as research and development activities
- Identification and development of production systems suitable for family business
- Regulation and bioremediation of high soil pH seen in the region via increasing the amount of organic matter in the soil, and implementing new strategies related to fertigation as well as
- To advance new methods to be used against diseases and pest control, in integrated struggle and good farming practices
- To develop species and varieties resistant to diseases and pest by utilizing modern techniques such as breeding and biotechnology
- To improve varieties that are enduring to environmental stresses (drought, high temperature, salinity and pH) encountered in plant production with the help of molecular, biotechnological and modern breeding methods
- To promote herbal and animal products in line with the demands of industrial branches and support regional and national development by providing the university – industry cooperation
- To make the generation of alternative products based on the needs of the region and the country
- Development of new methods in plant biotechnology and in plant breeding to meet region and country needs
- To contribute to the development of the seed sector in our country by conducting basic researches and applications on seed knowledge and technology
- To conduct research related to making underground and landless farming using alternative energy sources such as geothermal, sun and wind
- To investigate techniques including the proper cultivation of farm animals based on region and country conditions, assisted breeding methods and use of molecular techniques
- To develop alternative feed and feed additives in accordance with the needs of the region and the country and carry out researches for the optimization of their use in animal rations
- To perform researches on improvement of the composition and quality of animal products such as meat, milk, egg and free products
- To increase efficiency in animal production by utilizing assisted breeding methods such as molecular techniques and biotechnology
- To make contribution the nation's economy via genetic selection of animals
- To foster environmental, animal-friendly and sustainable production systems and applications
