The event included a presentation/talk and a cocktail reception in the foyer.
Following the opening speech by our Head of Department, Prof. Dr. Serkan Çayırlı, Prof. Dr. Öner Yusuf Toraman spoke about career planning and university-industry collaboration. Subsequently, Erdem Parsak, an alumnus and Operations Manager at Oreks Mining Lead-Zinc Plant/Kayseri, shared his mining production and sales experience, and Mining Engineer Emel Tunçdemir shared her field/mine experience (Figures 1-4).

Mining activities are among the most difficult and complex struggles against nature. The chain of responsibility in mining operations is multifaceted and comprehensive. The role and responsibility of the mining engineer, who plans the technical operations in mining, is extremely important. In particular, they are responsible for the health and safety of all personnel working in the mine. Furthermore, mining engineers and miners are also responsible for the efficient exploitation of natural resources. This is because our minerals are finite natural resources that, once produced, cannot be replenished. Future generations also have a right to them. Therefore, the network of responsibility in mining extends from the engineer to the manager, from the manager to the planner, and even to the politician.
