The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies organized an orientation program to support first-year students—newly enrolled in the faculty—in adapting to university and faculty life.
The program began with an opening speech by the Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şekeroğlu. In his address, he wished the new students success and shared information regarding the faculty's educational approach, academic and practical training opportunities, and professional development processes.
Following the opening speech, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Ünal delivered a presentation outlining the faculty's general structure, departments, educational facilities, and the opportunities available to students. Afterward, students were divided into groups based on their respective departments to participate in department-specific orientation activities. In this context, students met with departmental faculty members and had the opportunity to learn about curricula, academic processes, and the work being conducted within their departments.
As part of the orientation for the Department of Agricultural Genetic Engineering, the department's educational and research facilities were introduced. Students visited laboratories, the library, and greenhouse areas, gaining insight into the education and research activities carried out in these units. Additionally, information was provided regarding scientific research and ongoing projects within the department, as well as the academic and practical work opportunities available to students throughout their undergraduate studies. As part of the orientation, information was provided regarding the campus locations of student-oriented facilities—such as the cafeteria, central library, Erasmus Office, and Youth Office—and how to access their services, all aimed at facilitating students' adjustment to university life.
The orientation program concluded successfully, having enabled students to familiarize themselves not only with the facilities of their faculties and departments but also with the academic environment, faculty members, and the various units available to support them throughout their educational journey.
