Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Niğde Provincial Directorate of National Education, and the Turkish Egg Producers Central Association jointly organized "Children Meet Agriculture and World Egg Day," attracting a large turnout.
Since 1996, "World Egg Day" has been held annually in the second week of October worldwide, helping to raise awareness about the benefits of eggs and their importance in human nutrition. To increase awareness of this important food among children, our university, in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, hosted kindergarten and primary school students from Niğde province at our Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies for this year's "Children Meet Agriculture and World Egg Day" event.
In his opening remarks, our Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Dean, Prof. Dr. Ahmet ŞEKEROĞLU, discussed the importance of eggs for growth and development. He expressed his pleasure that the program is held annually at our university and that this year it is being held for our future generations, our children. Our Dean, who announced that the "Children Meet Agriculture" event is continuing, first and foremost expressed his gratitude to our Rector, Prof. Dr. He concluded his speech by thanking Hasan USLU and İbrahim AFYON, President of the Turkish Egg Producers' Central Union.
In his speech, Mr. İbrahim AFYON, President of the Egg Producers' Central Union, stated that they had supported the World Egg Day programs held at our university in previous years and that they were happy to participate in every program for educational purposes. Expressing his particular pleasure that the program was organized for children this year, Mr. Afyon concluded his speech by thanking all participants, especially our rector.
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan USLU stated in his speech that our university carries out significant work for social contribution and that he was delighted to meet with children on "World Egg Day," one of these projects. In previous years, our university hosted high school students as part of the "Meeting with Future Agricultural Engineers" program, and for our new program, "Children Meet Agriculture," which will enable children to learn about agriculture from an early age, Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet ŞEKEROĞLU concluded his speech by thanking İbrahim AFYON, President of the Turkish Egg Producers Central Union, and Elif ÖZBEK, Niğde Provincial Director of National Education. The program concluded with performances by the Chicken and Chick mascots promoting eggs, musical celebrations, and the serving of boiled eggs to children.
